Private Events
Am I able to come in earlier than my scheduled time to set up for my event?
You are only able to come in and set up for your event within your scheduled event time. If you need to purchase additional time, please contact us ahead of your event.
Am I responsible for cleaning up?
You are responsible for cleaning up everything you brought to your event, including decorations, tablecloths, and any leftover food before your event time frame ends. Building attendants are on staff to take care of the garbage, clean the floors, and assist you in your cleanup.
Do I really need special event insurance?
Yes, obtaining special event insurance is a mandatory requirement on all private rentals at our venue. Event Insurance is a General Liability policy designed to protect all parties from claims of injury to attendees and/or damage to the building.
When does my floor plan and special event insurance need to be submitted by?
Your floor plan and special event insurance need to be submitted to us two weeks before your event to ensure that we have everything prepared for your special day.
Am I required to tip the building attendant?
Your building attendant is there for the entirety of your event to assist you in any way possible. They are there to set up and adjust tables and chairs, taking out garbage, and help your event run smoothly. Gratuity for your building attendant is not required but greatly appreciated.
Can I have a soft play?
Yes, most outside vendors are permitted under your special event insurance. We kindly ask that you ensure your vendors know your scheduled event set up time as they will not be able to get into the building any earlier.
Is there a kitchen at the heritage center?
Yes, we have a kitchen with a refrigerated case, an oven/stove, and a microwave.
Can I have my event inside and outside?
No, when you book our event space, you are booking our Great Room or our Great Room and Lobby. You cannot have food or drinks outside. The event must remain inside.
Food Trucks
how do i find out about which food trucks will be at the park and when?
are tables available for eating?
Picnic tables are located in the playground and at the Shack behind the playground. There is also plenty of bench seating throughout the park. Park-goers are welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs for picnics on the grass.
i have a food truck/food business, can i just show up at the park?
No, interested food trucks must contact us to complete a vendor agreement form and submit required insurance information before coming to the park. Please inquire by sending an email to [email protected].
Heritage Park
Are dogs allowed at heritage park?
While we love our furry friends, dogs and other pets are not permitted at Heritage Park per Town of Brookhaven regulations.
Do you still offer memorial benches and plaques?
No, the Town of Brookhaven has since discontinued memorial benches, trees, and plaques at Heritage Park.
Is heritage park open at night?
Heritage Park follows Town of Brookhaven regulations and is open from dawn to dusk.
Can I host an event at heritage park?
According to the Town of Brookhaven website, a general permit application must be filled out for all park, gazebo, pavilion, bleacher, and special event reservations. If you are interested in using a ball field for your event, a separate Field Permit must be obtained. For events at the Heritage Center building, please contact us at [email protected].
Does heritage park have public bathrooms?
Yes, public restrooms are open seasonally and are located at The Shack behind the playground and at the Heritage Center building.
How long is the walking trail at heritage park?
The perimeter walking path at Heritage Park is approximately 0.7 miles.
Are there vending machines at the park?
No, Heritage Park does not have any vending machines, but snacks and drinks can be purchased from the Shack when open for the season.
