For over 45 years, North Shore Youth Council has been dedicated to helping youth and families thrive in an ever-changing world. In 2021, we proudly acquired the Heritage Center, preserving its rich legacy while expanding our mission to empower individuals across the North Shore. Through extensive refurbishments and enhanced programming, we’ve already impacted thousands of lives, fostering physical, mental, and social-emotional well-being.
Now, we’re taking an even bigger step forward. With the support of Suffolk County, the Town of Brookhaven, and local stakeholders, we are excited to announce a major expansion of the Heritage Center, designed to meet the evolving needs of our diverse, growing communities. |

A Vision for Growth and Opportunity
Today’s youth need more support than ever. They’re actively seeking positive, healthy spaces to grow, connect, and build their futures. With input from the community, our Heritage Center expansion will provide exactly that—a safe and welcoming environment where young people and families can thrive.
This new phase of development will include:

- 3,500 sq. ft. of year-round indoor recreation space for fitness, wellness, and enrichment activities.
- 1,500 sq. ft. of outdoor patio space to host seasonal programs and encourage nature-based creativity.
- 500 sq. ft. of dedicated office space for mental health and group counseling services, helping to meet the rising demand for emotional support.
- A redesigned front plaza featuring chess tables to promote mindfulness, connection, and thoughtful engagement.
